NOTICE:

The Erie County Budget Commission will hold a public hearing on Thursday, September 24, 2026 at 2:00 p.m., Erie County Office Building, 247 Columbus Avenue, Third Floor Commission Chambers, Sandusky, Ohio 44870.

The subject of the hearing will be the balance of the Erie County Board of Developmental Disabilities Fund. The Erie County Budget Commission will consider the question of whether to reduce the taxing authority of the county in connection with the balance of that fund. A determination to reduce the taxing authority of the county may result in a decrease in revenue available to the Erie County Board of Developmental Disabilities. All of the above is in accordance with Section 5705.322 of the Ohio Revised Code.

The Budget Commission Regular Monthly meeting will immeditately follow the Board of Development Disabilities public hearing.

On February 11, 2026, Rick Jeffrey, Erie County Auditor, sponsored the Annual School Treasurer and Superintendent meeting. Agenda items included the BOR process, Tax Rates, Levy revenues, Homestead and Owner Occupied costs, Important legislative updates, Budget Commission and General Discussion Items. Members from all Erie County local school districts participated with many of their Treasurers, Superintendents as well as some board members.

AOS Award with Distinction for 2024

Auditor Rick Jeffrey and the accounting staffs of every Erie County department were presented with the Ohio Auditor of State Award with Distinction by Scott Sands, Northwest Regional Liaison for Auditor of State Keith Faber.

It states: “This award is presented for excellence in financial reporting related to the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR) and compliance with applicable laws for the fiscal year ended 2024. Your exemplary reporting serves as the standard for clean, accountable government, representing the highest level of service to Ohioans.”

Receiving this Award with Distinction for a “clean” audit report occurs in less than 5% of government entities. Auditor Jeffrey thanked and recognized all the county accounting staff for their continued diligence and hard work to yearly achieving this award during his year-end accounting meeting.

NOTICE OF SPECIAL PUBLIC MEETING ERIE COUNTY BUDGET COMMISSION

The Erie County Budget Commission will hold a special public meeting on Monday, December 8, 2025 at 10:30 am., Erie County Office Building, 247 Columbus Avenue, 3rd Floor Chambers, Sandusky, Ohio 44870.

The subject of the meeting will be to discuss the status of the voted levies of the Erie MetroParks for the collection year 2026 as it relates to the Metropark’s proposed 2026 budget, and to take any action if necessary.
